Mini-news Maison Du Planteur – Rehabilitation of 2 hydraulic pumps

Dec 6, 2024

In 2021, Transparence Cacao transformed its fermentation and drying centres in Côte d’Ivoire into “Maisons du Planteur”.

Each Maison du Planteur has a CSR committee made up of Transparence Cacao team members and local community representatives, including school directors, doctors, village heads and other key players.  Through Maison du Planteur, we provide ongoing training in agroforestry and plot reforestation. We also fight child labour and improve families’ quality of life. We do this by financing dedicated projects that meet the specific needs of each community.

Highlights on our latest initiative with the communities in Côte d’Ivoire:

In November 2024, we renovated two water pumps in Touih village, giving 1,600 inhabitants access to drinking water. This project marks a major leap forward for the community, as these pumps are a crucial source of water for many families.

Access to safe drinking water is a vital necessity for the community, who often have to travel long distances to find water or use unsafe water, which is exposing them to severe health issues. This rehabilitation will improve Touih’s people’s quality of life and strengthen the community’s resilience.
