About the program
Our Mission
Transparence Cacao is a cocoa sourcing and engagement programme built on direct and long-term partnerships with farmers, producer organisations and value chain actors.
Through traceability, local engagement and continuous improvement, the programme supports transparent cocoa supply chains across its sourcing origins.
Programme Ownership & Management
Transparence Cacao was established and is owned by Cémoi, which is part of the Baronie Group.
The programme is implemented through partnerships with producer organisations, local implementation structures, technical partners and value-chain actors across participating origins.
Governance, programme requirements and independent verification mechanisms are designed to support transparency, accountability and continuous improvement over time.
How Transparence Cacao Works
Transparence Cacao works directly with producer organisations, farmers and local partners to implement activities adapted to local contexts and priorities.
The programme combines traceability, capacity building, environmental initiatives, community engagement and long-term partnerships to support continuous improvement across cocoa-producing regions.
Activities are implemented through local teams, producer organisations and specialised technical partners, and are monitored through documented systems, annual reporting and independent verification processes.
Building transparency, accountability and trust
Transparence Cacao is governed through a public framework designed to ensure transparency, accountability and continuous improvement across participating origins.
The programme is built on a publicly available standard, independent verification, stakeholder engagement and clear participation requirements. Together, these elements help ensure that programme activities, claims and communications remain consistent with the objectives and requirements of Transparence Cacao.
Public Standard
The Transparence Cacao Standard establishes the requirements applicable to participating farmers, producer organisations, local implementation structures and supply-chain actors.
The Standard is publicly available and structured around 4 programme pillars:
- Traceability & Transparency
- Partners
- Planet
- People & Communities
It defines the programme requirements applicable at origin, throughout the supply chain and within the governance framework of Transparence Cacao.

Independent Verification
Independent verification plays an important role in maintaining programme credibility and accountability.
Transparence Cacao participants are subject to external verification conducted by approved independent verification bodies. Verification activities assess compliance with the requirements of the Transparence Cacao Standard and contribute to continuous improvement across participating organisations.
Stakeholder Engagement
Transparence Cacao recognises that meaningful progress requires dialogue and collaboration.
The programme engages with farmers, producer organisations, local support structures, technical partners, customers, retailers and other stakeholders to help identify priorities, review programme performance and support future programme development.
Stakeholder feedback contributes to the ongoing evolution of the programme and its standards.
Governance Committee
The Governance Committee oversees the strategic development of Transparence Cacao and contributes to the evolution of programme requirements, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement processes.
The committee periodically reviews programme performance, implementation priorities and future revisions of the Transparence Cacao Standard.
Raise a Concern
Transparency and accountability require accessible channels for reporting concerns.
Farmers, workers, community members, programme participants and other stakeholders may raise concerns relating to programme implementation, human rights, environmental issues, traceability, programme integrity or other matters connected to Transparence Cacao.
