OUR APPROACH
Transparence Cacao applies a risk-based approach to human rights that combines awareness raising, monitoring, community engagement and grievance mechanisms adapted to local contexts.
Working with producer organisations and specialised partners, the programme supports the identification, prevention and management of risks related to child labour, forced labour and other human rights concerns. Reported cases and grievances are reviewed through documented follow-up processes that support continuous improvement over time.

Transparence Cacao aims to strengthen prevention and monitoring systems across all participating origins and continue improving the effectiveness of remediation approaches where risks or cases are identified.

Strengthening child protection systems
Since 2022, Transparence Cacao has run the Children First programme in Côte d’Ivoire with the support of RVO, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. In 2025, a new phase of the programme expanded support from four to nine cooperatives. Activities included awareness campaigns, monitoring improvements, child-friendly spaces and support for women’s economic empowerment as part of a broader prevention strategy.
