Transparence Cacao takes part to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP23)

Nov 16, 2017

Transparence Cacao takes the opportunity of this UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) to reiterate its full commitment for curbing deforestation.

As leading French chocolate manufacturer, our strong commitment to protect Forest in cocoa producing countries echoes French President’s pledge on climate change “Make our planet great again”.

It has been pioneering cocoa agroforestry in Côte d’Ivoire by contributing to preserve the remaining primary forest Parc National Taï – ‘’Cacao amis des Forêts” and IDH ISLA projects’’. To preserve existing forest areas, current models of cocoa production in Côte d’Ivoire need to be transformed.

Transparence Cacao – ISLA aims to convince farmers to see the natural environment, including trees and the forest, as a potential source of revenue. It also seeks to help farmers become agricultural entrepreneurs who invest in their farms by producing more from the land that they have. The project provides training and coaching to cooperatives, establishes cocoa and forest tree nurseries, and establishes ethics committees.
